Saar: With 639PS/700Nm on tap, it becomes the most powerful DB model ever.

When the acronym AMR comes into the name-christening of an Aston Martin, we all know what it will be about. Yep, more power. And the recently revealed Aston Martin DB11 AMR isn’t an exception. It was launched in its home country, UK, USA and Germany to commemorate the opening of the new Nürburgring-based AMR Performance Centre. Now that’s the way to mark an event.

Just in case you are wondering, AMR simply stands for Aston Martin Racing. To put things in perspective, AMR is to Aston Martin as SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) is for Jaguar Land Rover. With that out of the way, let’s quickly see what the DB11 AMR has to offer over the outgoing V12-engined DB11. The 5.2-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 has been tuned to deliver 639PS of power and 700Nm of torque. While the power has gone up by 31PS than outgoing DB11 V12, the torque remains identical.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and thanks to the added power, the 0-100kmph can be dealt within 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 334kmph. Those figures for the outgoing V12 DB11 stood at 3.9 seconds and 322kmph.

Since it has been developed by the AMR team, it ought to feature some distinguishable elements in its form as well. Compared to the standard model, the Aston Martin DB11 AMR flaunts dark headlight surrounds, smoked tail lamps, dark front grille and tailpipes, gloss black roof, roof strake plus side sills and a splitter. All that blends well with the exposed weave of the carbon fibre hood blades and side strakes.

Inside the cabin, the darker theme of the AMR continues with monotone leather and Alcantara upholstery and a contrasting central lime stripe, all of which is complemented with the leather sports steering wheel as standard. If you are the sort of millionaire who likes to accessorise a go-fast, two-door grand tourer, Aston Martin will sell you a range of accessories to keep you satisfied.

The Aston Martin DB11 AMR is available from £174,995 (approx Rs 1.6 crore at the current exchange rate) in the UK. The deliveries are expected to commence during the second quarter of 2018.
