About time! An SUV that made its world premiere more than a year ago has finally found its way into India. The Aston Martin DBX has finally arrived, boasting an eye-watering price tag of Rs 3.82 crore (ex-showroom). In case you didn’t know, the DBX is Aston Martin’s first-ever attempt to lure the super-wealthy who are looking for a powerful luxury SUV.

The V8 that powers the DBX also does duty in two other Aston Martin models – the DB11 and the Vantage. It is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged motor that pumps out 542bhp/700Nm and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The oomph goes to all four wheels. As a result, the DBX can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds and reach 291kmph at full stretch. Considering that it weighs well over 2.2 tonnes, those performance figures are quite impressive.

As you’d expect, the Aston Martin DBX offers bucket-loads of features to tick almost all the boxes under comfort, convenience, safety and luxury categories. The standard specification includes 12-way powered front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof and leather interior trim with Alcantara headlining.

Slotting under the safety section are features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Rear Cross Traffic Warning. Obviously, you can pay extra to make the list of gizmos even more flattering. Some examples include ventilated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, multiple veneer options (Solid Walnut, Piano Ivory Wood, etc.), seat detailing (quilting, perforation, embroidery, etc.) and other leather upholstery options.

Competition? On one side of the scale, the DBX rivals the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The other end includes the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Maserati Levante Trofeo (coming soon to India) and the Audi RS Q8.
