Tata Motors has updated Tigor’s official website with an additional section dedicated to the Tigor EV (electric vehicle). The homegrown automaker has also revealed the prices of the zero-emissions derivative of the sub-4 metre sedan. The Tigor EV is available in two trim levels – XM and XT. While the former is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, the latter is Rs 10,000 more expensive at Rs 10.09 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi and include TCS and FAME incentive of Rs 1.62 lakh).

As you’d expect, both Tigor EV versions house the same powertrain. There is a single, three-phase AC induction motor which comes coupled to a single-speed automatic transmission. The power-plant generates 41PS/105Nm and gets its juices from a 16.2 kWh battery pack. The result is a 0-60kmph time of approximately 12 seconds and a top speed of 80kmph. Tata Motors claims that with a full charge, the Tigor EV can travel up to 142km before running out of juice.

As far as charging times are concerned, the Tigor EV’s battery can juice-up from zero to 80 per cent in approximately 6 hours when fed through a normal charger. However, the time tumbles down to about 1.5 hours when a 15-kW charger is used. Because of the battery pack, the Tigor EV has 310 litres of boot spaces, which is 109 litres less than any of the conventionally-powered derivatives.

The price difference between the two Tigor EV versions is purely based on the list of features. The XT gets just two additional features over the XM – 14-inch alloy wheels and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The rest of the kit, which includes dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS, automatic climate control, Eco & Sport drive modes, a Harman-engineered sound system and all four power windows, is common between the two trim levels. A total of three colour options are available – white, blue and silver.

Tata Motors is giving a warranty of 3 years / 1,25,000 km on the vehicle and the battery pack. The Tigor EV has only one direct competitor in the Indian market – the Mahindra eVerito. Unlike the Tigor EV, however, the eVerito can be purchased a personal vehicle.
