India, like most nations on earth, is betting big on electric mobility. To cater to the anticipated demand, players are already launching cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and charging networks. The latest to announce its entry in the EV (Electric Vehicle) game is Sterling and Wilson Pvt. Ltd. (SWPL) – a Shapoorji Pallonji Group company that has is already services various sectors such as engineering, procurement and construction.

Since the EV space is new for the Indian conglomerate, it has partnered with one that has years of experience in the same domain – Enel X (part of Enel Group). The duo has decided to establish a joint venture (JV) that deals in electric charging infrastructure in the Indian subcontinent. Both companies agree that there’s much potential in serving the fast-evolving private e-mobility ecosystem.

With this partnership, SWPL intends to introduce Enel X’s JuiceBox family of EV chargers. The company makes both AC and DC chargers, both of which can be adjusted to the requirements of Indian users. As per the company, customers will have the flexibility to choose how, where, and when to juice-up their vehicles. It also mentions that the platform will also facilitate asset operators and owners to track the performance of charging stations and networks and troubleshoot systems in real-time.

Here’s what Sanjay Jadhav, CEO, Sterling Generators Pvt. Ltd. said in an official release:

The quick electric charger will be a game-changer for the EV sector in the country and is in line with the national vision to combat fossil fuel pollution and associated climate change through accelerated electrification of private and public transportation as a prime lever. The JV will help create direct and indirect employment through local manufacturing and operations & maintenance services of the charging infrastructure.

Francesco Venturini, who is the CEO at Enel X, added:

Joining forces allows our teams to leverage our extensive market knowledge and technical experience, helping to deliver effective results, as well as making important steps towards a clean and sustainable future. We will support the JV by bringing electric mobility solutions to market that are fit for local needs, accessible, and convenient for all drivers, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of the transport sector across India and subsequently South East Asia.
