Thanks to a sketch released by Skoda last month, we could at least imagine what the Vision IN could look like indoors. Now, the Czech carmaker has given us two more digital drawings, with one revealing the front of the concept vehicle and the other the rear. Before we get into some of the details, here’s what Skoda has confirmed. The Vision IN will make its public debut at the Auto Expo 2020, while its toned-down version will enter production later this year.

So, what do we have in the newly released images? Let’s start with the front end of the Vision IN. At first glance, it looks very similar to the Euro-spec Kamiq. But a closer inspection reveals some significant differences. The split headlamps design might seem like a copy-and-paste job, but the lower enclosures are much smaller on the Vision IN. The lower half of the front fascia is different as well, with a more aggressive chin made out of aluminium and large air intakes. The bonnet boasts a muscular design, while the Skoda grille is imposing.

It seems while sketching the rear-end of the Vision IN, Skoda stuck to its latest design language. Who remembers the Vision X? The three-dimensional taillamps blend seamlessly with the SUV’s prominent shoulder line. The backlit Skoda lettering between the taillamps is striking to look at but way too optimistic for the production-version vehicle. Underneath the number-plate area is a horizontal light bar that links the two reflector units at either end. And, there’s also a faux diffuser made out of aluminium. Some of the other design touches include roof rails and unnecessarily big alloy wheels.

For it to become production-worthy, the 4.26-metre long concept vehicle will lose quite a bit from its package. That said, the overall silhouette should remain as hunky as it does in the sketches. That, along with Skoda’s built quality, will play a vital role for SUV to lure customers away from rivals. Speaking of which, it will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Captur and the Nissan Kicks in India. Soon after Skoda introduces the SUV, Volkswagen will take the same recipe, rebadge and redesign it a bit to launch its version.
