Missed out on landing the EQC earlier? Well, here’s some good news! The next batch of the electric vehicle (EV) starts arriving from October 2021. Mercedes-Benz India has also reopened bookings, both online and offline, for the car in question. As before, the EQC is available in a single variant – the 400 4MATIC. And here’s the headline – instead of selling it in just six metros, the brand will now be retailing it to customers across 50 cities and 94 locations. Here’s a snapshot of where it is available:

Mercedes-Benz says that the second batch of EQC will have an upgraded 11kW onboard charger. Courtesy of the extra punch, the 80kWh battery pack, can be replenished from 10 per cent to 100 per cent in 7 hours and 30 minutes. The old 7.4kW charger took 11 hours to do exactly that. And yes, the EQC also supports fast charging, up to 110kW of DC feed. Under ideal conditions, the recommended fast charger can juice up the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes. The carmaker also reports that the spare wheel is now placed under the load floor of the car.

The EQC packs two electric motors, one for each axle. Put together, they produce 402bhp/760Nm. That’s enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 180kmph. And as for the range, that can go up to 414km (WLTP-certified).

Features? The EQC has many. The list comprises three-zone automatic climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, cruise control, powered seats with memory function, Multibeam LED headlamps and an electric sunroof. Other features include 20-inch alloy wheels, ‘Mercedes me’ connect services, two 10.25-inch displays (one each for the instrument cluster and infotainment purposes), a wireless mobile charger, and a Burmester sound system are also part of the package.

In India, the EQC competes directly with the Audi e-tron and the Jaguar I-Pace. Out of the three, which one do you fancy the most?
