Saar: As part of its 1.2 billion GBP plan, the company confirmed them at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

British marque McLaren has some pretty serious plans from now to the year 2025. The company took the opportunity to reveal them at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the McLaren 600LT also made a world debut. The company said that with an expanded investment of 1.2 billion GBP, it has upgraded the ‘Track22 business plan’ to ‘Track25’. So, what is it?

McLaren Automotive will launch a total of 18 new models or derivatives will launch by the middle of next decade. The new additions will help the company lift production by almost 75 per cent over current levels. That means it will be producing around 6,000 cars per annum by then. The company reassured that all models be hand-assembled.

The next big announcement it made was that it will hybridise its entire supercar and sportscar range within the seven-year period, which is from now to 2025. McLaren will also study new augmented driving features and invest in developing a “lighter, superfast-charging, high-power battery system for performance applications”. The company claims that the new juice-pack will deliver over 30 minutes of electric range in its cars around a race track.

McLaren Automotive has also set aside 50 million GBP to ensure that its models are the lightest in their respective segments. The company is finishing off work to open its McLaren Composites Technology Centre (MCTC) and once fully operational, it will mean around 57 per cent of vehicle content by value will be UK sourced.

For those who miss the insanity that the McLaren P1TM brought into the world of hybridised supercars, you won’t have to wait too long for its successor to break cover as McLaren has confirmed that it will happen within the seven-year period. The Woking-based carmaker also confirmed it will focus on producing mid-engine models only.

McLaren Surpasses Production Of 15,000 Cars In Just Seven Years

A substantial chunk of the total investment planned will go towards expanding the dealership network. At present, McLaren has 86 dealerships around the world. The company is targeting to reach the minimum three-digit figure by 2025. Apart from adding more dealers in its existing markets, McLaren will also evaluate to enter more promising markets such as India and Russia.

Formed in 2010, McLaren Automotive will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary by the time ‘Track25’ meets its fate. As of now, the company has a workforce of around 2,300 people. However, that count will stay “broadly stable” until 2025, covering offices in UK, US, Bahrain, China, Singapore, Japan and Spain.
