It isn’t a secret that the world has been under a thick blanket of distress for the better part of a year. But things are slowly improving. And, of course, there will be a cure for the pandemic soon. However, it seems Maserati wanted to play an additional part in bringing some joy to the world by twin-turbocharging the movement towards global improvement. And the Italians have done so with what you see here – the expanded Trofeo collection.

In addition to the Levante, Maserati has added the V8-sweetness to the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. All three feature the same 3.8-litre engine that, with the help of two turbochargers, pumps out 572bhp/730Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission harnesses and feeds the oomph to the rear wheels of both the sedans. In the Levante Trofeo, the grunt goes to all four wheels. Performance figures? Well, the go-fast SUV can hit 100kmph from nothing in 4.1 seconds and top out at 302kmph. The Ghibli and the Quattroporte can reach 326kmph at full blast, while their sprint times are 4.3 seconds and 4.5 seconds, respectively.

So, what do those figures mean? Well, they reaffirm a simple fact – all three are the quickest and gutsiest road-legal Maseratis in production today. In fact, both the Ghibli and the Quattroporte claim another title – the fastest Maserati sedans ever. And what goes with strong performance? A sporty outlook. All three exude aggressiveness with a redesigned front grille, carbon fibre lower lip at either end and side air vents. Even the headlamp and taillamp enclosures have paid a visit to the drawing board. The Ghibli also features a restyled bonnet with two air ducts, just like on the Levante Trofeo. Even the wheels are massive. While both the sedans ride on 21-inch wheels, the SUV boasts a set of 22-inch wheels.

As you’d expect, the sporty character is evident indoors as well. The headrests feature Trofeo badge, and the upholstery consists of full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather. Apart from those, all three cars get new gizmos too. That includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the sedans, an 8.4-inch unit on the SUV, multiple driving modes including Corsa and Active Driving Assist. Maserati has also included a bunch of connected-car services in all three models.

Maserati India is now accepting bookings for the new Ghibli, Quattroporte and the Levante Trofeo. The company will manufacture the sedans at its Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Plant in Grugliasco, and the SUV will roll off from the production facility at Mirafiori, Turin.
