In a bid to beef-up its UV (Utility Vehicle) portfolio, Maruti Suzuki has today launched a new model. Dubbed as the XL6, it is priced from Rs 9.8 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom India). In truth, it is not an all-new model. The chassis and powertrain have been carried over from the Eritga. However, the XL6 is longer, wider and taller than the model it is based on. Maruti Suzuki is positioning the XL6 as a “premium MPV” and to boost that claim, it will retail its latest offering from the Nexa range of dealerships.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is available in four variants, covering two trim levels and as many engine-transmission combinations. More specifically, the MPV is being offered in Zeta and Alpha trims. No matter which one you choose, the MPV comes with the option of a petrol-MT and a petrol-AT combination. The engine in question is a BSVI-compliant, 1.5-litre mill that produces 103hp/138Nm. While the manual transmission is a 5-speed unit, the automatic has 4 forward speeds. Thanks to the mild-hybrid technology, the petrol-MT combo can return up to 19.01kmpl and the petrol-AT can go as high as 17.99kmpl.

Over to the list of features. Since the list of trim levels starts at Zeta, you’d expect the least-expensive variant to offer a lot. And yes, that is exactly what the case is. No matter which version of the XL6 you choose, features such captain seats in the second row, LED-powered headlamps, fog lamps taillamps and DRLs, an all-black interior theme, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control are available. The Alpha trim ropes-in features such as auto-folding ORVMs, auto headlamps and wipers and leather seats. Sadly, there is no sunroof on offer.

As reported before, the XL6 is available in six colours – Metallic Premium Silver, Metallic Magma Grey, Prime-Auburn Red, Pearl Brave Khaki, Pearl Arctic White and Nexa Blue. With the new model, Maruti Suzuki wants a piece of action from Mahindra Marazzo’s market space. Here’s the complete price list of the XL6:
