We knew this Mahindra would make a comeback. And now, it has. But, it isn’t called the TUV300 anymore. Instead, Mahindra has given it a makeover and slapped on the Bolero Neo nameplate. It will be sold alongside the Bolero as a more premium alternative. In Mahindra’s words, “the Bolero Neo is the new face of Bolero”. The subcompact SUV is available in three variants – N4, N8 and N10. A new variant – N10(O) with multi-terrain technology – will be launched later. Here’s how the introductory price list looks like:

  • N4 – Rs 8.48 lakh
  • N8 – Rs 9.48 lakh
  • N10 – Rs 10 lakh

The Bolero Neo rides on the same trusted chassis that does its job in the Scorpio and the Thar. However, compared to the now axed TUV300, the Bolero Neo features a fresh face. That includes a redesigned bumper, sleeker headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a different chrome-draped grille and new five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels. Apart from those, there are a few other minute design changes inside the cabin.

Propulsion comes courtesy of a 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 99bhp/260Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission harnesses the oomph and feeds it to the rear wheels only. For now, that’s the only powertrain option available for the seven-seater SUV.

As standard, the Bolero Neo packs stuff like Eco driving mode, tilt-adjustable power steering, dual airbags, speed alert system and rear parking sensors. The mid-tier trim ropes in additional features such as a side footstep, a rear spoiler, day/night IRVM, a two-din music system and a rear wiper with a washer. In the range-topping N10 spec, the SUV offers more creature comforts. The list includes a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an armrest in the second row, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, ISOFIX anchorages and follow-me-home headlamps.

The Bolero Neo is available in six colours – Napoli Black, Majestic Silver, Highway Red, Pearl White, Diamond White and Rocky Beige. Soon, a new shade – Royal Gold – will join that list. As for the list of rivals, it includes the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. So, how do you like the Bolero Neo?
