Saar: The company will be introducing CVT-equipped variants of the sub-4 metre SUV in the VX trim.

The second-gen Honda Amaze, which was launched in May this year, has been doing spectacularly well for the carmaker. In July 2018, the sub-4 metre sedan became the first-ever Honda model in India to step into the five-digit sales figures for a month. The car also racked-up over 9,000 bookings each in the months of May and June this year. One of the main reasons for its popularity is the diesel-CVT combination, which is not available in any other car in the segment.

To ensure the good sales numbers keep on coming, Honda Cars India has decided to further expand the variant list of the Amaze. According to a report, the company will soon launch CVT-equipped variants of the sedan in the VX trim. Honda has taken this decision based on the feedback received from customers and prospects. As of now, the CVT option is only available in two trim levels, S and V, with petrol and diesel engines. Once Honda introduces the CVT in the VX trim, the total count of CVT-equipped variants will go up from four to six.

If we look at the current price list of the Honda Amaze, the difference in price between the manual and CVT variant of the same trim is Rs 80,000 for diesel and Rs 90,000 for petrol. Based on the same logic, the petrol and diesel versions of the Honda Amaze VX CVT will cost Rs 8.58 lakh and Rs 9.58 lakh respectively (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda Amaze No Longer Available At Introductory Prices

With the new variants on sale, customers will not have to compromise on features to get the convenience of a two-pedal setup. Some of the features which are part of the VX trim over the V trim include the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and onboard GPS navigation, rear parking camera, voice command and cruise control. Would you pay the extra amount to get the above-mentioned features along with a CVT in the equation? Do let us know in the comments below.
