Saar: From 2:00 PM today till 1:59 PM tomorrow, Ford India will accept 100 bookings made exclusively via the e-commerce giant, Amazon.

Ford India has tied-up with Amazon to commence the online bookings for the upcoming Freestyle CUV (compact utility vehicle). The booking period will be open for 24 hours, starting at 2:00 PM today. During this time frame, only a 100 orders will be accepted with a booking amount of Rs 10,000. Whoever falls in this bucket, will get their Freestyle delivered sooner than the bookings made by any other means. The amount can be paid using any of the Amazon certified ways but just not cash on delivery! Here’s the link to the bookings page: www.amazon.in/freestyle.

Rahul Gautam, vice president, marketing, Ford India commented, “Ford Freestyle has been designed for young, progressive, independent & free-spirited customers who love to stay connected. From everyday things to high-value purchases like mobile phones, they are buying everything online. Through this partnership with Amazon, Ford is bringing an exclusive opportunity for such customers to own India’s first compact utility vehicle Ford Freestyle, from the convenience of their homes, offices or wherever they may be.”

The launch of the Freestyle is likely to happen on April 18, 2018. It will become Ford’s first crossover offering in the country. Essentially, it takes the Figo that has been toughened up. Apart from its jacked-up stance, the main talking point is the new 1.2-litre petrol engine. It is a 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine from Ford’s dragon series. It puts out 96PS/120Nm to its front wheels and is capable of returning 19kmpl. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is the same tried-and-tested 1.5-litre unit, producing 100PS/215Nm. Unfortunately, there is no automatic transmission in the mix. Both engines can be had only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

As far as price is concerned, we believe it will be placed a notch above the Figo and in the similar bucket of the Figo Aspire. Mind you, both the Figo and the Figo Aspire are due for a mid-life update. Expect that to happen towards the latter half of the year.
