When Mercedes-Benz launched the C-Class facelift last year, it was only a matter of time when its stronger, AMG-marked derivative – the C 43 – arrived on our shores. Well, that time is almost up as the Indian arm of the German carmaker has announced that the C 43 4MATIC will launch in its Coupé form on March 14, 2019. It is interesting to see Mercedes-Benz bringing the Coupé and not the sedan derivative of the go-fast car.

Since it wears the AMG logo, the obvious place to start is under the bonnet. Like the pre-facelift model, the refreshed Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 which is boosted by two turbochargers. The result is a peak power output of 390PS and a max torque of 520Nm. The oomph is harnessed and fed to the all-wheel-drive system via a 9-speed, AMG-spec automatic transmission. The sprint from nought to 100kmph takes just 4.7 seconds and it will reach an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

In terms of features, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé gets the same level equipment as the top-spec C-Class and some. Apart from the new flat-bottomed, multifunction steering wheel, the new infotainment system with voice control and cruise control, the car gets AMG-spec light-alloy wheels, AMG-spec sports suspension, red seatbelts, dual-zone climate control and tyre pressure monitoring system. The C 43 4MATIC Coupé also gets angrier styling on the outside which not only makes it stand out from the rest of the range but also makes the car aerodynamically more stable at high speeds.

The C 43 4MATIC Coupé will be Mercedes’ second launch in India this year. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of BMW M2 Competition and the Audi S5. Looking forward to it? We sure are!
