The Slavia is here! Well, almost! In what seems like a weird marketing stunt, Skoda has decided to release prices of the 1.0 TSI variants first and then, later this week (March 3, 2022), unveil those for the 1.5 TSI versions. Anyway, the range with the smaller engine starts at Rs 10.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.39 lakh. Here’s the detailed price list:

All variants mentioned above get the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that also does duty in the Skoda Kushaq. The turbocharged motor pumps out 113bhp and 178Nm of peak torque. It comes coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission by default. However, there’s also an option for a 6-speed torque converter. Mileage figures? The ARAI-certified figures for the petrol-MT and petrol-AT combos are 19.47kmpl and 18.07kmpl, respectively.

The Slavia has a long list of features as well. It includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a dual-tone beige and black interior, an 8-speaker sound system and LED-powered headlamps and taillamps. The sedan also offers connected-car technology, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof and a wireless mobile charger. As far as the safety kit is concerned, that comprises six airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitor and ISOFIX anchorages for child booster seats.

The Slavia is Skoda’s second, heavily-localised product. And it is (sort of) the replacement for the Rapid saloon, which was taken off the production line a few weeks ago. In India, the Slavia will compete against the Honda City (5th Generation), Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. And considering how Skoda has priced the 1.0 TSI variants, the 1.5 TSI versions will cost significantly more than all its rivals. But, that motor will also offer the best performance. So, are you happy with how the Czech brand has priced the 1.0 TSI Slavia?
