Saar: The final name will be chosen when the name voting, which is open for everyone, ends on June 20, 2018.

Kia Motors India put on a great show at the 2018 Auto Expo. It showcased all its cars at the biennial event in February 2018, ranging from the tiny Picanto hatchback, the Stinger grand tourer to the massive Mohave SUV. However, the centre of attention was grabbed by a stunning looking, extremely orange, SP Concept SUV. It will become one of the first cars which will be, let’s face it, toned down from its concept form and will commence Kia’s Indian innings.

After revealing the SP Concept SUV, Kia Motors initiated a unique campaign wherein it asked for name suggestions for it from quite literally everyone. We are sure it must have received thousands or even lakhs of name suggestions. But now, that list has now been narrowed down to just four. They are:

  • Tusker
  • Trazor
  • SP-Z
  • Trailster

The voting is now underway to see which out of the four names comes out on top as the people’s choice. As we report, the name Trazor is leading by miles. It has received just shy of 800 votes, in comparison to second best, Tusker, which has received over 300 votes. At third position is SP-Z, with just over 100 votes, followed by Trailster with less than 50 votes. The voting campaign will on June 20, 2018. So, if you really like one of the aforementioned names, do go online and vote.

Refreshed Kia Sportage With Diesel Mild-Hybrid Tech Unveiled

Kia Motors India is currently setting up its manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. That’s where the SP Concept will be built and possibly exported to other markets around the globe. The compact SUV will soon be joined by an even smaller SUV, which will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.

Soon afterwards, Kia Motors is expected to launch two more products in the Indian market, taking the total up to four in a span of fewer than two years. The company has invested over Rs 7,000 crore to build its manufacturing plant, which is spread across 536 acres of land and will have the capability of producing 3 lakh units per year.
