Those planning to purchase a sensible family wagon for around Rs 30 lakh must pay attention. Kia India has devised and introduced something called ‘Satisfaction Guaranteed Scheme’ for its flagship offering – the Carnival. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it! What is it? Well, in essence, buyers opting for this new scheme are eligible to return the MPV within 30 days of purchase if they aren’t pleased with the product.

Kia says the new offer will cover 95 per cent of the ex-showroom price and the additional costs incurred for registration, finances, etc. Obviously, there are a bunch of terms and conditions attached. Some of them are:

  • The vehicle shouldn’t have more than 1,500km on the odometer.
  • There are no damages, failures or any pending claims.
  • The owner’s agreement for the vehicle transfer, including all documentation and charges, etc., in the name of a person, will be obligatory.
  • The car must be free from any hypothecation, and the NOC should be submitted to the finance.

Launched at the Auto Expo last year, the Kia Carnival has witnessed a steady growth in India. More than 6,200 units have been retailed so far. The range-topping Limousine variant, which comes solely with a seven-seat layout, accounts for 60 per cent of the overall sales. If seven seats don’t suffice, the Carnival is also available with eight- and nine-seat configurations.

Priced between Rs 24.95 lakh and Rs 33.95 lakh, the MPV is on offer with just one powertrain. That includes a 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. All the oomph, which is 197bhp and 440Nm of torque, goes to the front wheels only. Some of the features that it packs include a 10-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with ventilation, 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UVO (connected-car) tech and a dual electric sunroof.

The Carnival is a more premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. Other options in the same price range include SUVs, such as the MG Gloster, Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner. How do you like the new scheme from Kia?
