Saar: Its public debut, however, is expected at the 2018 Sao Paulo International Motor Show, which will open its gates on November 6, 2018.

Up until now, we’ve seen a plethora of teasers and spy shots of the Volkswagen T-Cross. It seems that Volkswagen is done fine-tuning the compact SUV as it plans to officially unveil it on October 25, 2018. That’s about a couple of weeks before the compact SUV is expected to make its first-ever public debut at the 2018 Sao Paulo International Motor Show (SPIMS) in Brazil. The said event will open its gates on November 6 and shut them on November 18, 2018.

The Volkswagen T-Cross will share almost everything with the car it is based on – the sixth-gen Polo. The compact SUV will be underpinned by the MQB A0 platform and while the Euro-spec model will be marginally bigger than the Polo, the China- and Brazil-spec iterations will be noticeably larger. Volkswagen has even released the dimensions of the Brazil-spec T-Cross.

The sharing of stuff with the Polo will continue inside the cabin as well. For Europe, Volkswagen is likely to equip the T-Cross generously with stuff like the latest Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB) system, which will house two displays. The bigger of the two displays, measuring 10.25-inch, will be the digital instrument cluster, and the smaller one (8.0 inches), will be infotainment screen. Other expected list of features includes ventilated seats, a top-notch sound system developed by Beats By Dr Dre, a sunroof and wireless mobile phone charging.

We know that Volkswagen, under its India 2.0 project, will launch the T-Cross on our shores. It will be underpinned by the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform and is expected to measure the same as the one going to Brazil and China. That said, to keep the prices in check, it isn’t likely to be as well-equipped as the one bound for European markets.

Volkswagen T-Cross Teased Again; Flaunts Big Boot

In India, the Volkswagen T-Cross will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI engine, which will also be locally produced. However, the Volkswagen T-Cross will only come to India after Skoda is done launching its own compact SUV, which will share its underpinnings with the T-Cross. That means the Volkswagen SUV will either launch in late 2020 or early the following year. Presently, it is unknown whether Volkswagen will bring a diesel-fed variant of the T-Cross to India. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the upcoming Nissan Kicks.
