Saar: The go-fast, four-seater sports car is available in two trims – Sport and MC.

Italian carmaker Maserati has introduced the updated iteration of its GranTurismo model in India. Priced at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom), the go-fast, four-seater sportscar is available in two trims – Sport and MC. For the record, the updated Maserati GranTurismo was first unveiled at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. That means the Italians took more than a year before to bring the said model to our shores. Actually, it does make sense as Maserati wants to kill some time before it is ready to introduce the GranTurismo’s successor – the Alfieri. The new model, as per FCA’s roadmap, will only come in the year 2022. Until then, expect Maserati to lure more customers with special editions of the GranTurismo.

To create the updated GranTurismo, Maserati has brought in a new, shark-nose, hexagonal grille which is reminiscent of the Alfieri Concept, lowered air ducts and a tweaked rear bumper. The sports car also features dual-exhausts, both of which are accompanied by air vents. The styling tweaks, as per Maserati, has reduced the coefficient of drag from 0.33 to 0.32. On the inside, the design of the dashboard and the clock has been changed slightly.

On the features front, the updated Maserati GranTurismo gets sports seats finished in Poltrona Frau leather and Alcantara, dark chrome and Eco chrome detailing on the door and quarter panels, 20-inch alloy wheels, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, rear AC vents and automatic climate control.

Powering the Maserati GranTurismo is a 4.7-litre V8 petrol engine that puts out 460PS of power and 520Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which routes the oomph to the rear wheels only. Maserati claims that the 0-100kmph times and the top speed for the Sport and MC trims are 4.8 and 4.7 seconds and 299kmph and 301kmph respectively. Those figures aren’t bad for a car that has a kerb weight of approximately 1.9 tonnes. In India, the updated Maserati GranTurismo will compete with likes of the Aston Martin Vantage, Porsche 911, Nissan GT-R and the Audi R8 V10 Plus.
