Toyota Kirloskar Motor has silently expanded the list of trim levels for the Innova Crysta. The previous entry-level trim – the GX – has been replaced by a newer one – the G Plus. The said trim is only available with the smaller of the two diesel engines and in two configurations – a seven-seater and an eight-seater. While the former is priced at Rs 15.57 lakh, the latter wears a price tag of Rs 15.62 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

With those price tags, the new entry-level trim is Rs 38,000 less expensive than the comparable GX trim. Although Toyota is yet to release any confirmed information about the newly added trim level, we believe that it has been created specifically for fleet services. The Toyota Innova Crysta has always been popular in the world of tourism and with the new trim in place, the MPV promises more numbers to its maker.

As mentioned above, the newly introduced trim is powered by a diesel engine. It is a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder mill that is boosted by a turbocharger. The result is 150PS of power and 343Nm of torque. The oomph is harnessed and fed to the wheels by a 5-speed manual transmission.

Compared to the GX trim, the G Plus will be missing some features in its package. While it is tough to say what those missing pieces will be at the moment because Toyota hasn’t revealed them yet, the MPV will still get ABS with EBD, at least two airbags, manual AC with controls and vents for all three rows, rear parking sensors, power steering, power windows and 16-inch wheels. It is also possible that Toyota reserves just the Super White shade for the G Plus trim.

The Innova Crysta is one of the two most successful models for Toyota in India. The other one is the Fortuner. In India, Toyota’s MPV faces competition with other seven-seaters like the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa.
