Saar: Depending on the model, the customer could pay up to Rs 60,000 more after the current fiscal year ends

It is that time of the year again. The current fiscal year is about to end and car manufacturers have been busy calculating how to offset the increase in input costs. Normally, prices are hiked on the turn of the calendar year. But to ensure fewer fluctuations in prices during the forthcoming fiscal year, Tata Motors has announced that prices for its entire range of passenger vehicles will increase by up to Rs 60,000 (depending on the model). The hike will come into effect from April 1, 2018, and no it isn’t an advanced April fool prank!

Why? Well, Mayank Pareek, who is the president of passenger vehicle business at Tata Motors, said, “The rising input costs, changing market conditions and various external economic factors, have compelled us to consider the price increase but we are optimistic on maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust product portfolio like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and the Nexon.”

Tata cars have always been very aggressively priced in their respective segments. Currently, the homegrown auto giant has 11 products in its passenger vehicle portfolio. Based on what Tata Motors has said, it will be the Hexa that will get the maximum bump in its price tags. But if you don’t want to pay that increased list price for any of the Tata car, make sure you book one for yourself on or before March 31, 2018.
