Saar: Priced at Rs 29,890, it eradicates the need to replace the factory-fitted audio head unit in your car.

Let’s start this one with a valid question. Have you ever wanted to upgrade the audio system in your car but without changing the head unit? We sure have! Head units these days are custom-designed to become an integral part of the dashboard layout. Every car has a different one unless you buy a Renault! Jokes apart, up until now if you wanted to enjoy the music inside your beloved car, you had to change everything – component speakers, tweeters and even the head unit.

Now though, Rockford Fosgate has a solution for us. A solution that eradicates the need to change the factory-fitted head unit. The solution comes from an 8-channel audio processor called DSR1.  Put simply, it creates a much-needed bridge between the head unit and the aftermarket amplifiers and speakers. By doing that, it helps the aftermarket sound system to work in tandem with the factory-fitted head unit much more seamlessly and get the best out of the entire setup.

Seamlessly? What does that mean? Well, if you are an audio junky and you’ve had your car’s standard stereo thrown out for a new, more powerful sound system, then you’d know how tricky it can be the get just the right balance between what the head unit can offer and what the amplifiers and speakers and deliver. That pain goes away with the Rockford Fosgate DSR1. The company has designed a very detailed and yet a very simple application, which can be installed on iOS and Android devices. That mobile app connects the DSR1 via Bluetooth and everything from the equaliser, fader, to balance and bass/treble levels can be adjusted wirelessly.

Just in case you are wondering, thanks to the 8-channel RCA output on the Rockford Fosgate DSR1, it can connect to any aftermarket amplifier. Other clever touches include an auxiliary RCA output, which can be used to snap on an A2DP Bluetooth dongle. That will help stream music directly, bypassing the car’s stereo system.

At the launch event, William R Jackson, president and CEO, Rockford Corp., said:

“India is an attractive market and we are excited to launch the DSR1 here. We are expecting a good response from the audience in this market wuth the help of our association with Blanpunkt India. DSR1 is power-packed with the best possible features to give the ultimate in-car experience to our buyers.”

All the Rockford Fosgate products are imported into India. The DSR1 is priced at Rs 29,890 and we recommend that if you want to get one installed, which we are pretty sure you want to, get it done from an authorised Rockford Fosgate outlet only.
