Saar: It makes the whole package a lot more attractive for entry-level car buyers.

Renault India’s blockbuster product, the Kwid, is now being offered with an attractive 4 years or 1,00,000 km warranty (whichever is earlier) as standard. The bifurcation includes 2 years/50,000 km standard warranty along with 2 years/50,000 km extended warranty. Basically, Renault is giving away the extended warranty free of cost. But the story doesn’t end there. Renault India is also offering free Road Side Assistance for Kwid buyers. Honestly, this makes the entire package a lot more enticing than the other products in the same segment.

The Kwid’s direct rivals include the Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Datsun Red-Go. While the Hyundai is offered with 3 years/1,00,000 km warranty as standard, the Maruti comes with 2 years/40,000 km. The Datsun, which is essentially the same car underneath as the Kwid, is offered with 2 years/unlimited km as the standard warranty period.

Renault India has also revealed that it has special offers on its Renault Secure package for all its products in India. The said package includes extended vehicle warranty and road side assistance. Renault car owners can extend the warranty of their vehicle up to 5 years or 1,00,000 km, along with road side assistance. Both these after-sales programs can be availed from any authorised Renault dealership.

Apart from the Kwid, which has been by far the most popular Renault product in India, the company sells the Duster, Captur and the Lodgy in India. While Duster helped the company establish its roots in the country, it is the Kwid that has been bringing home bread-and-butter for the French carmaker. More than 2.2 lakh units of the small hatch has been sold since its launch in September 2015. Since then, Renault has added several variants in the Kwid’s arsenal. It is currently offered with a 0.8-litre and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine. While the smaller mill is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission, the 1.0-litre engine also gets an optional AMT (automated manual transmission).
