Saar: Created by T.Fotiadis Design, this extremely shouty Range Rover SLT will debut later this year.

Are you the sort of person who always wanted a mixed-breed of a big SUV and a luxury yacht, 6-wheel-drive and not a Mercedes-Benz? Good news! The Range Rover SLT is being conceived for you and for people with tastes just as weird as yours. A company called T.Fotiadis, which is based in Berlin, Germany, has taken up this project. That project, as it is pretty clear, will be a 6-wheel-drive Range Rover and has an abbreviation attached to its name. SLT stands for Superyacht Land Tender. See, we weren’t kidding that it is actually designed to be a yacht for the road.

As you’d expect, this project will not get a green signal for mass production. Its charm is reserved to satisfy the specific needs of a very specific kind of customer – absolute show-offs. Every customer who puts their name down for one of these will get an option to choose from the usual set of Range Rover engines. No point choosing a diesel, we’d say! If you want to go nuts, go full-fledged. Opt for the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 and to hell with the ‘green’ movement. However, if you want to perceived as a human moving on with the times, Range Rover’s PHEV tech will also be up for grabs. The Range Rover SLT will be underpinned by the Range Rover LWB platform. That goes without saying as this thing is longer than some, mass-produced commercial vans.

Prices haven’t surfaced yet and for something this brash and big, we can’t even make a calculated guess. But since it will be built in small numbers, expect it to cost at least twice than the most expensive, mass-produced Range Rover. We will get to see the Range Rover SLT in flesh at the Monaco yacht show for the first time. That event will come to life in September this year and will surely be different this time around. Because of the Range Rover SLT, you ask? Well, of course!

It won’t be the first time that we’d see a 6×6 variant of a standard SUV. Mercedes-Benz has set a couple of examples. First was the Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 and then the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, which shook the world of automobiles last year. Neither of them was built in great numbers but that’s the whole point. You own such a thing to stand out from the crowd. Extremely show-offy but hey, is there a better way to flaunt your wealth on the move? Perhaps, tossing thousands of dollars at pedestrians just because you want to!
