Saar: It made its world premiere nearly a year ago at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

Porsche has announced that it will launch the most powerful variant of its 911 series in India on July 10, 2018. Called the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, it made its world premiere at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which ran from June 30 to July 2 last year. And following its traits, Porsche has already listed the asking price for the 911 GT2 RS on its Indian website. It will cost Rs 3.88 crore (ex-showroom India).

The centre of attraction is, of course, what powers this two-seater, high-performance sports car that lapped the Nürburgring in just 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds in September last year. It is a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, flat-six petrol mill that puts out 700PS of power and 750Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission which routes the oomph to the rear wheels only. The setup is enough for the hit 100kmph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, 200kmph in 8.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 340kmph. With those figures in the catalogue, this generation of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is not only the most powerful but also the fastest 911 derivative of all time.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo Bookings Underway

It isn’t just about raw power with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. It is also about the delivery. And to ensure that it delivers the poise that every Porsche is known for, it gets a reworked exterior, with larger air inlets and outlets, and an extra-lightweight titanium exhaust system that weighs around 7kg less than the system used on the 911 Turbo. Further weight saving has been achieved by a bonnet made from carbon and a roof made from magnesium. The tyres on the Porsche 911 GT2 RS are larger and wider too, with the fronts rated at 265/35 ZR 20 and the rears at 325/30 ZR 21. And accompanying them are Porsche’s ceramic composite brakes.

Whichever way you decode this iteration of the Porsche 911, it is a serious performance machine. It is isn’t the first time that we’ve reported the asking price of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. We covered that bit, along with a couple of other Porsche cars, back in April this year. Back then, Porsche listed Rs 3.77 crore as the asking price.
