Saar: The carmaker produced 10 per cent more units of its blockbuster SUV from April-October 2018 compared to the same seven months last year.

It isn’t a secret that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the bestselling models in India. Ever since it was launched in March 2016, it has been plagued with just one problem – stretched waiting periods. To tackle that, India’s largest carmaker produced more units of sub-4 metre SUV during the first seven months of the current fiscal year when compared to the same seven months from 2017. Mathematically speaking, Maruti Suzuki produced 94,000 units of the Vitara Brezza from April-October 2018, which is a 10 per cent increase from last year.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the segment leader. That has been the case ever since it was launched. Do you want some numbers? Why not! During the last fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki retailed 1.48 lakh units of the SUV. During the first seven months of the 2018-19 fiscal year, the company sold around 95,000 units of the Vitara Brezza. Do the math and you’ll get to an average monthly sale of approximately 13,570 units. There are multiple carmakers, with products for the masses, which struggle to get to that figure with their entire portfolio.

In July this year, Maruti Suzuki reported that in less than 29 months, the Vitara Brezza has crossed the lifetime sales mark of 3 lakh units. The company has now reported that till date, that lifetime sales ticker has surpassed the 3.57 lakh mark. Although the Vitara Brezza never had a petrol-powered variant, it received a much-needed automatic transmission in May this year. The company claims that its Auto Gear Shift, which is commonly known as AMT (automated manual transmission), has penetrated well in India, with 49 per cent and 39 per cent buyers opting for it in Mumbai and Delhi respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Crash-Tested By Global NCAP

Up until now, Maruti Suzuki has garnered around 61 per cent of total sales come from the Z/Z+ trims of the Vitara Brezza. You have to say that for a car which had just one engine-transmission combination on offer for most of its life, has not just defeated the competition but annihilated.
