Saar: With a minimum token amount ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000, several dealers in India have started entertaining pre-orders for the new MPV.

In the third week of August this year, Mahindra announced that its shark-inspired Marazzo MPV will launch on September 3, 2018. While officially bookings have yet to start, several dealers across the country have already begun entertaining bookings for the new MPV. The minimum token amount, which will be refundable, is ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000. With the launch date nearing, Mahindra has already started shipping the MPV’s stock to its dealers in India.

Last week, Mahindra released a teaser video of the Marazzo on its social media platform. The 10-second video gives a real-world glimpse of the new MPV’s front grille. Here’s the video:

You can see what Mahindra has tried to do with the grille design. The chrome-draped slanting slats on either side of the U-shaped centrepiece are designed to look like a shark’s teeth arrangement. Look closely and you’ll see that behind the shiny pieces of metal is a meshed grille insert. Even the colour of the bonnet is visible, which looks like a darker shade of teal.

To date, Mahindra has released several teasers of the Marazzo. The company started the teaser campaign with the official announcement that its U321 MPV will carry the name Marazzo. About a week or so later, the homegrown automaker released the image of the Marazzo’s dashboard design. We’ve also seen how the Marazzo’s seating layout will differ between a seven-seat and an eight-seat configuration.

Last week, the company also revealed the design of the headlamp enclosures of its new people carrier. Mahindra is yet to reveal any confirmed specifications of the Marazzo but if reports are to be believed, it will be available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine at the time of launch. A petrol motor will also find its place under the hood, depending on the voice of customers. In the market, the Marazzo has been designed as a more affordable alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. It will co-exist with the Mahindra Xylo and is expected to fall in the price range of Rs 10-15 lakh.
