As expected, Hyundai Motor India will launch the Venue just over a month after its world debut in New York. To be precise, the Hyundai Venue will get a price list in India on May 21, 2019. Just like it does with all new product launches, Hyundai will start entertaining bookings for the Venue at least a week before the launch date.

The Venue is, without a doubt, an extremely important product for Hyundai in India. It will claim the title of the first-ever sub-4 metre SUV from the South Korean carmaker. And, as we all know, the said segment is one of the most popular and hotly contested on our shores. What’s the best way to get the limelight in a crowded market? Offer some segment-first features and the Venue, with its BlueLink technology, will do just that.

Hyundai will offer a choice of three engines with the Venue – the 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Verna and a new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol. While the 1.4-litre engines are expected to be in the same state of tune as the sedan (petrol – 100PS; diesel – 90PS) and with a 6-speed manual transmission, the debutant mill is tipped to introduce a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In the UK market, the said engine is available in two states of tune – 100PS and 120PS, with torque clocked at 172Nm.

Being a Hyundai, the Venue will most definitely be loaded with creature comforts. The list of confirmed ones includes an electric sunroof, a big touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a colour MID, automatic climate control, keyless entry, LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, a multifunctional, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a ‘Turbo’ badge at the rear with the 1.0-litre engine. Basic safety features such as rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder for front seats and speed alert system will be standard across the range.

Once launched, the Hyundai Venue will take the game to the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300. Expect Hyundai to launch the Venue with an introductory price list, which could range between Rs 7.5-11 lakh.
