Saar: The sub-4 metre sedan, which contributed to 50 per cent of total Honda Car India sales from April to September 2018, took just five months to achieve this feat.

The new Honda Amaze continues to impress. Honda Car India has announced that in just five months of its launch, the new Amaze has surpassed 50,000 sales mark. Out of the lot, 40 per cent sales came from tier 1 cities and 30 per cent each from tier 2 and 3 cities across India. During the first of the current fiscal year, i.e. April – September 2018, the new Amaze accounted for 50 per cent of total Honda Car India sales. The company has confirmed that the second-gen Amaze achieved the 50,000 sales mark faster than any of its models in history. Honda also revealed that the new Amaze attracted over 20 per cent of first-time car buyers.

In an official statement, Makoto Hyoda, director, sales and marketing, Honda Car India Ltd., said:

“The overall concept of all-new Amaze was to develop a one-class above sedan for Indian family use that exceeds the expectations of customers in the compact sedan segment. The response to the car with 50,000 sales in 5 months is overwhelming. The advanced CVT technology has found very strong acceptance among customers with 30 per cent of Amaze customers opting for automatic variants in petrol and diesel.”

The new Honda Amaze was launched in May this year with an introductory price list that started at Rs 5.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The introductory prices, however, were revoked at the beginning of August this year. Later in the same month, Honda Car India announced that the new Amaze became the quickest to clock 30,000 sales in the company’s history. The Amaze’s amazing run of garnering numbers hasn’t been without hiccups. In July this year, 7,290 units of the sedan were recalled by the Japanese carmaker.

Given the demand for CVT-equipped variants, Honda Car India is expected to introduce the two-pedal setup in the VX trim as well. Until that happens, you can click here to find out which trim or variant suits your needs the best.
