Saar: It becomes the third and most affordable variant in the 3 Series GT family.

BMW India has launched the 320d Gran Turismo Sport at an asking price of Rs 46.6 lakh. It becomes the third and most affordable variant in the 3 Series GT (Gran Turismo) family. The other two variants are the 320d GT Luxury Line and the 330i GT M Sport. While the former is priced at Rs 49.5 lakh (revised from Rs 49.2 lakh), the latter wears a price tag of Rs 51.2 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India).

The 320d GT Sport is essentially a lesser version of the 320d GT Luxury Line. The Rs 2.9 lakh difference between the two is courtesy of lesser equipment levels in the more affordable one. Underneath though, it comes with the same engine-transmission combination. The 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine produces 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque while transmission duties are assigned to an 8-speed automatic unit. The result is a nought to 100kmph time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 226kmph. As far as fuel economy is concerned, BMW claims it can return 21.76kmpl at best. No points for guessing, all those figures are identical to the 320d GT Luxury Line.

Customers opting for the new variant will have a choice of three exterior colours – Alpine White (non-metallic), Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect. Similarly, for the interior, BMW will offer three upholstery options – Sensatec Black/Red highlight, Black and Sensatec Veneto Beige, and Veneto Beige only.

As far as the feature list is concerned, the BMW 320d GT Sport comes with non-adaptive LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 205-watt, 9-speaker sound system, 40:20:40 split folding rear seat, optional paddle-shifters, launch control and an 8.78-inch touchscreen infotainment with an onboard storage of 20GB for media storage, built-in GPS navigation and compatibility with Apple CarPlay.

BMW To Export China-Made iX3 Globally

The BMW 3 Series GT doesn’t have a direct rival in India. However, with its roomier cabin, decent feature list and a potent power plant, it could very well take a dig on the expensive variants of the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Jaguar XE. There’s also the Volvo S60 but that will soon be replaced by an all-new model.
